Your Role:  You will lead a team of dedicated IP licensing experts to drive MilliporeSigma’s IP out-licensing business. You are responsible for structuring, driving and closing complex long term licensing contracts, with typical values in the millions of dollar range. A small amount of your time will be spent supporting the broader GENM team on in-licensing activities.

 

You will:

·  Lead and direct the team to enable their continued success in deliver our business goals
·  Drive our licensing activities from existing or new customers for:
·  the strategic commercial CRISPR IP portfolio
·  the ZFN IP portfolio for research use
·  Lead the contractual aspects, templates etc, bring in legal and IP/law where needed, and ensure adherence
·  Be responsible for the company's strategic position in the market by working closely with Patent and Legal Teams to continuously monitor and evaluate the changing patent landscape
·  Develop negotiation and pricing approaches by integrating company and commercial strategies, examining risks and potentials, estimating customer needs and goals; enable other commercial team members with these strategies
·  Close new business deals by coordinating requirements, developing and negotiating contracts, integrating contract requirements and business operations
·  Be responsible for commercial delivery, build market models, build revenue projections, communicate industry context underpinning these aspects, pipeline development within the team and to leadership
·  Guide messaging to and positioning in the market, working with Corporate Communications, continuously review messaging in line with novel patents granted and opposition situation developments; assessment of previous work and build on future expansion of communications
·  Support GENM business teams on occasional in-licensing activities to further strengthen the GENM portfolio by inorganic add-on assets. The incumbent will be guiding the business teams in contract evaluations, as well as terms and conditions negotiations.

You have superior communication and presentation skills which are used to convince and inspire internal and external partners to get their buy in and commitment.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

·  BS degree with 10+ years’ experience, MS with 5+ years’ experience
·  Experience in a strategic commercial role within a Life Sciences or Pharmaceutical company with a proven licensing business development track record
·  Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements
·  Experience with in- and out-licensing
·  Global and domestic travel up to 20%.
·  Can work remotely

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·  Advanced Degree in Science, Legal or Business
·  MBA preferred
·  Experience with in-licensing within Pharma or a biotech
·  5+ years in a strategic role within a Life Sciences or Pharmaceutical company with a proven business development track record
