Your role: You will actively participate in the implementation of our Animal Welfare Strategy and Culture of Care and help us to become a leader in Animal Welfare and the development of better alternatives to the commercial use of animals in research. You will advise institutions and persons involved in animal experiments and the keeping of laboratory animals on animal welfare and laboratory animal science issues. Moreover, you will prepare opinions on applications for approval of animal experimentation projects. Promoting the scientific development and introduction of methods and means to reduce animal experiments, the number of animals used and the burden on laboratory animals is a key task of our local Animal Welfare Officer. Furthermore, your duties will comprise monitoring compliance with regulations, conditions and requirements in the interest of animal welfare. You will collaborate with global teams and participate in our transparency and communication working group and the Animal Affairs Academy. The position also comes with travel for on-site auditing of suppliers, breeders and business partners globally.
Who you are:
· University degree in veterinary medicine; a doctorate is desirable
· Experience from working as an animal welfare officer with sound knowledge of animal protection law
· Knowledge in experimental design and data processing, including biostatistics
· High sense of responsibility, goal-oriented and independent, well-organized working style, flexibility, ability to work under pressure and deal with conflicts
· Team & cooperation skills and strong communication skills
· Very good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken
