Job description

Must be located in or relocate to Jefferson City, MO to work on-site 5 days a week.

The Cognos Report Writer is responsible for designing, developing and implementing complex dashboards, reports, and visualizations for Cognos solutions for Government Health and Human Services (GHHS) clients of IBM Watson Health. Working with Data Warehouse (DW) implementation teams and analytic groups, the Cognos Report Writer collaborates with Business Analysts and Framework Manager Modelers to design and deliver healthcare reporting and analytic assets for clients. The Cognos Report Writer works with the GHHS BI Practice Area to actively promote approaches, standards, and best practices for reporting and data visualization which drive optimal performance, flexibility, and usability for Cognos Business Intelligence (BI) solutions.

This role requires an individual with excellent attention to detail, who can influence the direction of healthcare reporting and analytic solutions while working cross-functionally with Implementation Teams and Account Teams. The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, independence, and entrepreneurial ability to work with minimal direction and rapid prototyping.

Responsibilities
·  Collaborate with Data Warehouse Implementation teams, BI Administrators, Developers and Analysts for successful development of BI reporting and analytic solutions
·  Design, develop, implement and support performant Cognos dashboards, reports, and data visualizations according to requirements and within project timelines and budget.
·  Support Business Analysts (BA) in gathering and translating requirements from clients for building insightful, compelling reports and dashboards that drive decision making
·  Maintain accurate and complete technical documents
·  Recommend strategies to improve performance and capacity of BI tools
·  Support Cognos upgrades in development, testing and documentation
·  Perform analyses to troubleshoot data issues with BI solutions.
·  Embrace internal support methodologies and SDLC best practices and continuously strive to improve the systems and processes
·  Adhere to BI standards, guidelines and best practices for clients, client services, and technical teams
·  Work with the BI Practice Area to build scalable and repeatable processes to enable efficient delivery of BI solutions across GHHS clients

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

·  Required to work on-site 5 days a week in Jefferson City, MO
·  3+ years of dashboard and report development experience with Cognos 10 or 11
·  2 years of Medicaid reporting and analytic experience
·  Understanding of business strategy, able to provide consultative business analysis, and leverage technical skills to create insightful, effective reports, dashboards, visualizations, and analytics.
·  Understanding of semantic layers and Cognos Framework Manager
·  Advanced knowledge of and experience with SQL
·  Outstanding analytical skills
·  Ability to thrive in an environment that is tasked with providing data-driven decision support and business intelligence that is timely, accurate and actionable
·  A proven track record of strong communication & data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate and influence both business and technical teams

·  Experience with and knowledge of end-to-end data warehousing principles, methodologies, and practices
·  Knowledge of dimensional data models (data access, understanding of methodologies and structure)
