Job description

The VMware Systems Administrator is an experienced Support Technician with expert-level support experience and basic design knowledge with VMware for management of VMware vSphere server infrastructure. Specific job responsibilities include:

- Implementing, managing and migrating vSphere environments using VMware ESXi and vCenter
- Managing the security and stability of VMware products
- Managing all facets of the subsystems necessary to support the delivery environment
- Providing technical project leadership for vSphere environments
- Implementing and maintaining vRealize Operations Manager
- Implementing and maintaining Cisco UCS Manager and UCS Central environments
- Ability to document processes and procedures
- Providing good customer service during all interactions
- Communicating and working with customers
- Working as a part of an overall team on a daily basis
- Following IBM policies and procedures

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

- Minimum 6+ years VMware experience
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- vSphere 5.x and 6.x to include vCenter Server for Windows, vCenter Server Linux Appliance and VMware ESXi
- vRealize Operations Manager (vROPs/vCOPS)
- VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM)
- IBM/Lenovo System X Hardware
- Intel (IBM, HP and Dell) Server Hardware
- Cisco UCS Hardware
- Cisco UCS Manager / Central management
- VMware PowerCLI
- VMware Upgrade experience (5.x to 6.x)
- Customer service skills
- Phone skills
- Highly organized, motivated and able to meet deadlines
