UX / UI Designer (IBM Center for Blockchain Innovation)

IBM Center for Blockchain Innovation is high committed to the technological advancement of Blockchain technologies and solutions. It is part of the IBM Research initiative to explore Blockchain technology.

Blockchains are essentially decentralized and distributed ledger of digital records. It allows any payment transaction or any document to be codified as a digital record such that it is irrevocable once it is committed in the Blockchain. Blockchain relies on cryptographic technologies to ensure the necessary security and privacy. Smart contracts on a Blockchain enable the immutable execution of business rules underlying business contracts. IBM is a leading contributor to Open Blockchain fabric such as the HyperLedger project. Many of the industry transformations such as that for Finance, Trade, Supply Chain Logistics and other industries will be built on the Open Blockchain fabric.

You will be joining IBM Research to advance industry transformations using Blockchain technologies working with research colleagues around the world. This effort will involve working actively with clients across different industries such as Finance, Trade, and Commerce to explore how Blockchains can transform as well as create new opportunities. You will help create new digital Blockchain platforms and business networks in support of these key industry transformations. New information models that leverage distributed ledgers, security models that meet industry requirements while maintaining data integrity, confidentiality and privacy, smart contract libraries and templates that support multi-party business processes, cognitive analytics and services to generate breakthrough insights, new scale-ready deployment architectures and infrastructure to enable global business networks are some of the many ways in which you will be able to help transform industries and be part of a unique team of top talent.

IBM Center for Blockchain Innovation is looking for a designer that encompasses ability in one or two of the following disciplines: i) UX design, ii) UI design

i) UX Designer
· Understand Design Thinking methodologies. Able to lead workshops with clients, assess design needs, and arrive at
minimum viable product (MVP) definition.
· Understand technology and work with developers and technologists, to produce innovative yet implementable designs.
· Able to produce storyboards, and through this device, communicate the user experience to clients/team members.
· Project management skills. Understand how to work with developers to achieve timely delivery of project goals.

ii) UI Designer
· Solid art and design background. Passionate in creating innovative and intuitive designs.
· Excellent illustration skills and visual communication techniques.
· Understand web and mobile designs from functional usability perspectives. From this able to design well-thought out
UIs.
· Understand web technologies that compliment UI design, e.g. responsive designs
· Understand data visualization and can design for data-driven applications.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

·  Bachelor degree / Diploma or higher in related fields such as Human Computer Interaction, Design, Computer Sciences.
·  2-3 years of experience working in tech-related companies and environments.
·  For UX designer role, well-versed in design thinking methodologies and coming out with clear user flows.
·  For UI designer role, ability to craft high-fidelity mock ups with modern design and prototyping software (e.g. Sketch, Invision)
·  Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

·  Have a basic understanding of common web technologies such as HTML, Javascript, CSS.
·  Experienced in Agile methodologies.

·  Preference for candidates that possess a good balance of UX and UI design skills, and cover both roles, with good oversight of product.
·  Ability to multitask and work on multiple projects at the same time.
