IBM seeks to hire a Thermal Engineering Intern to assist in the design and development of cooling solutions for high end computer servers from concept through market introduction, including engineering support of design issues during production. The candidate must be enrolled in a BS or MS (preferred) program in Mechanical Engineering. The ideal candidate will have prior intern or academic experience with the cooling of electronics or related fields. Our computer servers are air and/or water cooled and our cooling solutions involve heat sink design, thermal interface material selection, fan and blower design as well as design and specification of water cooling components including pumps, cold plates, manifolds, quick connects and related hardware. Specific responsibilities may include:* defining cooling concepts*performing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis*performing early characterization and bench testing*performing full functional system level testing for thermal compliance*performing long term qualification testing for component Demonstrated ability to work with a group of peers, as well as leadership and communication skills are required.

· Basic knowledge in cooling of electronic assemblies
· English: Fluent
