The Public Service Sector consulting practice is a trusted advisor to federal, state and local governments, partnering to meet challenges and responding quickly to citizen demands, business needs, new economic conditions, and changing legislative priorities and policies.
As a Systems Engineer your responsibilities will include:
· Administering various backend services for external customers (e.g. WebDAV, SVN, customer accounts, etc...)
· Development responsibilities including performing code reviews and working with version control and change management systems to release customer code to production.
· Systems Administration responsibilities including maintaining web and database server environments, and working with web developers to secure, optimize, and test hosting configurations and troubleshooting performance issues.
· Responding to security incident reports and conducts vulnerability scanning of both static code and active websites.
· Administering customers' Akamai properties and interfaces with Akamai technicians.
· Providing on-call support and occasional travel to customer sites.
This work location for this role is at the client site in Radford, VA. Candidates must be clearable to DoD Secret clearance. An interim DOD Secret clearance or higher level clearance is required to begin work on Day 1.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
· Up-to-date knowledge and strong experience with PHP, related frameworks (e.g. Laravel, Lumen, etc...), and Content Management Systems (e.g. Expression Engine or Drupal).
· Strong experience working with Linux.
· Automation experience using BASH, PHP, Ruby, or Python.
· Version control experience with SVN and GIT.
· Experience with code integration and improving security of 3rd party APIs (e.g. Facebook, Twitter).
· Experience with cross-browser HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, multi-platform desktop and mobile website development using PHP frameworks.
· Strong experience debugging PHP and JavaScript.
· Experience setting up and customizing a local web development environment.
· Self-supportive debugging and problem-solving skills including cross- browser and OS compatibility.
