Job description

We are seeking a Research Intern to conduct novel research on modeling real-world IoT time-series data. IBM Research is one of the world's leading, largest and most influential corporate research labs, with an unmatched investment in basic research and core science and a commitment to invent the future of technology by making scientific breakthroughs that will transform industries and society. The intern will be working with a group of research scientists and software engineers in the Enabling IoT and AI Technologies group at IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown, NY. The intern will be expected to develop and implement novel algorithms for the following tasks
·  Cleansing of time series data by identifying noise and outliers.
·  Develop representation learning methods which can learn embeddings from time-series data to be used for tasks such as failure prediction and anomaly analysis.
·  Develop advanced models which can tease out causal relationships in time-series data by accounting for factors such as unobserved confounders, non-stationarity and auto-correlation.
·  Integrate code with existing analytics stack and test code exhaustively.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

·  Currently pursuing PhD in Computer Science, Applied Math or Electrical Engineering.
·  Coding proficiency in Python and ability to write code using deep learning frameworks such as Tensorflow.
·  Previous experience in working with noisy time-series data using traditional machine learning, deep learning and/or causal inference-based methods.
·  Published relevant ML research at top-tier venues such as ICML, NIPS or AAAI.
·  Available to join the group on or before May 2019 for a 3 month or a longer internship.
