Job description
Role: Spectrum Virtualize/Storwize Performance Engineer
Spectrum Virtualize/Storwize is one of IBM's flagship block storage technologies providing cutting edge highly-available highly-performing data storage for some of the largest companies in the world. This is a role within the Performance squad in the Development lab in Hursley. The performance squad is responsible for performance measurement and analysis of cutting edge storage technology, from host attachment to the latest drive technologies.
The performance engineer is responsible for:
· Writing test plans for Spectrum Virtualize releases, liaising with the squad, the wider development team and the architecture team.
· Defining performance goals and measurements.
· Identifying performance bottlenecks and working with the team to remove them.
· Setting up performance test stands, including infrastructure tasks such as setting up test hosts, applications, and environments.
· Improve our continuous integration tools, and integrate them with our performance measurements.
· Liaise with our performance engineers and developers in multiple IBM development labs.
· Expand and open up performance services to the wider development and test teams - performance as a service.
Required
· Experience working as a engineer within a product development team
· Passion for technology and developing future products and features.
· Excellent numerical and analytical skills
· Excellent teamwork, knowledge sharing and communication skills.
· Proficient in at least one of C or Java
Preferred
· Scripting development with Perl or other scripting languages
· Knowledge of various Operating Systems (e.g AIX, Windows, Linux and VMware) would be beneficial
· Experience with Networking and SAN Specific technologies
