Job description

Software Engineer Manager, IBM Corporation, Armonk, NY and various unanticipated client sites throughout the U.S.: Plan, design, develop, test, and implement advanced complex programming systems or part of a large application of comparable complexity. Work with customers, users and peers to understand system requirements. Conceptualize unusual approaches to programming problems. Develop plans, schedules, and cost data for computer programs or for part of a larger programming system. Participate in planning advanced, experimental state of the art programming systems. Lead in the design, development, testing and implementation of assigned systems programs. Assure assigned activities are completed within committed objectives schedules and cost. Provide alternate solutions in the event of schedule and cost deviations. Keep customers/users apprised of progress and problems in development cycle. Present on status and difficult development issues. Utilize Unix Operating System, Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) such as Oracle; Object Oriented programming language such as C++; Data Integration with ETL tool such as DataStage. Required: Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related (employer will accept a Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of progressive experience in lieu of a Master's degree) and one (1) year of experience as an Advisory Software Engineer or related. One (1) year of experience must include utilizing Unix Operating System, Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) such as Oracle; Object Oriented programming language such as C++; Data Integration with ETL tool such as DataStage.
