Job description

IBM Research is seeking a RF (Radio Frequency) Circuit and System Designer capable of independent design and development based on system requirements, as well as working well within a multi-disciplinary team of electrical, computer and software engineers, and physicists.

You should have a proven background in RF design, simulation and test. High speed digital design and a significant publication record is a plus. You will create novel RF circuit designs at both the PC board level, as well as potential CMOS implementations. You should be capable of leveraging state of the art methods and software tools, and lab equipment. Specific experience in RF systems link budget development and allocation to specifications, passive and active circuit design (lumped and distributed transmission line filters, amplifiers, mixers (passive and active), will be important.

You will be a team player with demonstrated writing and presentation skills, able to create and communicate technical ideas, and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team. You should be willing to drive development of new intellectual property. Also, have proven hands-on lab skills, and be able to develop prototypes and evaluate ideas, which will also include collaboration with users and domain experts. Such capabilities include numerical and analytical skills, experience with relevant development tools, e.g. ADS, HFSS, Cadence, Mentor, and other industry standard tools.

You must be able to work successfully with a diverse and dynamic team of both operational and technical personnel, collaborate with team members, work independently, and take own initiative.

A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and/or at least 5 years of professional experience, along with a demonstrated record of innovation and experience in leading applied research in RF (baseband to 10GHz) is preferred.
