Job description
IBM Q is hiring a Qiskit Developer Advocate to help us teach the world about quantum computing and grow our community of researchers, students, educators, and coders on the path toward achieving quantum advantage. This is a position for self-directed creative thinker, tinkerer, and coder who can both contribute to our core Qiskit open source project and work directly in the community to advocate for this technology. This includes speaking at university engagements, courses, meetups, conferences, and workshops, while also contributing to the creation of content to help teach quantum computing through Qiskit. In this role, you must have have a passion for technology and connecting with people to grow this community. You would benefit from experience in quantum research as well as strong Python coding skills. The ideal candidate must also possess communication skills appropriate for engagement with developers and scientists, but must also be able to articulate complex concepts clearly to a non-technical audience.
Above all, you must be a dot connector to collaborate across many internal and external audiences as an advocate for our Qiskit community, comfortable with complex problem solving, ambiguity, and able to work independently to set your day to day priorities. This is a very challenging, but fun job for the right person!
As an advocate for the IBM Q Community, this candidate is expected to:
* Spend at least 50% of your time contributing code to one of the core Qiskit projects and/or community tutorials.
* Have a strong background in Python development and quantum science.
* Willingness to travel up to 25% for community engagements.
* Strategize on new ways of reaching new and existing audiences across developer and academic communities.
* Manage your own deadlines as well as the deadlines of the extended Qiskit community team.
* Collaborate as well as make creative decisions autonomously.
* Candidates with PhD's specialized in relevant quantum sciences are preferred.
