Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Procurement Analyst will be responsible for generating client value by providing input to and analysis of solutions for client proposals. The Procurement Analyst will be expected to work collaboratively with the IBM pursuit team to shape the most appropriate solution.
As part of proposal development, the Procurement Analyst will be responsible for owning and completing the proposed cost model, creating reports and providing deal analytics to support solution/business decisions. They will be required to provide in-depth analysis of client spend data and create savings profiles that feed into the commercial model. As the owner of the cost model they will need to ensure accuracy at all times; inputs will come from many members of the pursuit team and the Procurement Analyst needs to keep track of the multiple changes that can be made throughout the deal cycle.
The role is hands-on and requires a personal contribution to the detailed design of the proposed solutions, with respect to ensuring that cost and savings elements are correctly represented in the model. The analyst will also be required to ensure that the impact of volume fluctuations on commercial constructs are modelled, under direction from the Lead Solution Architect and IBM pricing team.
The Procurement Analyst will be responsible for supporting the Solution Architects with various analyses using Excel tools to determine required headcount, savings projection based on procurement spend and, in some cases, the price.
The Procurement Analyst will also support the Solution Architect with written responses for the client proposal submissions.
The Procurement Analyst will be expected to share the knowledge and experience gained on every assignment with other members of the IBM Procurement Services (IPS) Solutions Practice (e.g. through posting of proposal and solution materials to shared data repositories).
Solution development covers the following areas and the Procurement Analyst will support the Solution Architect in these areas:
• Costing of the proposed service delivery model (including governance, delivery organisation, Tools, and IT solution)
• Risk definition and development of mitigation strategies
• Business Case development, analysis and coordination
• Presentation of the solution during client site visits
• Securing required approvals
• Validation of assumptions and proposed solution in Due Diligence activity and refinement of the solution, based on the findings from Due Diligence, if appropriate
• Ongoing update and refinement of the cost model.
Special Considerations
The Procurement Analyst role will be based regionally hence travel throughout a region (EMEA) is likely. Further, when propositions are put together for global organisations on a global scale, travel outside a candidate's region may be required. Travel expectations 25%.
Reporting Line
Procurement Analyst will report to report to the Senior Procurement Architect and IPS Go to Market Leader.
Orientation
These roles will require an open and collaborative teaming approach with multi functional teams established to provide proposals to clients. Frequently, the Analysts will be collating inputs from a variety of sources, analysing them and reporting back on comparisons to previous deals.
