Job description
Corporate Development is looking for a candidate to support IBM's acquisition and divestiture activities. The primary role for the candidate includes valuing potential acquisition and divestiture targets, working with a global cross-functional team on due diligence, developing dynamic financial models as well as creating and delivering executive presentations to convey financial assessments, risks and risk mitigation actions. In addition, the candidate will work with banks and venture capital firms to understand the current M&A environment and will support managing IBM's current venture capital and minority investments.
The role is in the IBM Corporate Development function that drives the M&A execution across IBM. In the past 5 years, IBM has completed over 50 transactions for $13B in deal value. The role will support IBM in its transformation with a focus in the IT, healthcare and IoT spaces. Because the M&A landscape is continually evolving, the ideal candidate would continually seek ways to bring innovation to the M&A process to allow IBM to identify the best targets, value the targets appropriately and execute the transactions.
The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of M&A experience in an investment banking, venture capital, private equity or consulting capacity. Experience should include creating and delivering presentations to internal and external senior management, providing guidance to less experienced team members and improving overall team effectiveness.
This role resides at IBM's corporate headquarters providing exposure to and inclusion in IBM Corporate activities. For example, this team works directly with the IBM CFO on communications to the Board of Directors and investor relations related to IBM's acquisitions and divestitures as well as with the Corporate Strategy team and the Controller's function.
Overall, the IBM corporate development team is looking for an experienced M&A candidate with initiative and interest in influencing the M&A process at one of the largest technology companies worldwide.
