Job description
This position is focused on the mechanical design of machines and robotics for low-cost, mass data storage. If something is saved into the cloud, more likely than not, it ends up on back-end tape storage; due to tapes high-capacities and low cost, it is used my most any customer that stores large amounts of data in a small footprint, utilizing minimum power. You will be responsible for the design of and on-going improvements to the tape libraries that store tape cartridges and drives, utilizing 3-axis robotics and the associated technologies. You will need to be familiar with high-end 3D CAD software (preferably Catia), employing engineering and design principles for sheet metal, injection-molded plastics and machined parts.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
· Experience in the intricacies of mechanical hardware design, including sheet metal design, machining and molding technologies.
· Expert skill with high-end 3D CAD packages, preferably Catia, and highly experienced with 3D modeling, rendering and conversion to 2D drawings.
· Extensive knowledge required regarding Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), as well as documentation specifications such as MIL-STD-3100, ASME Y14.5, Y14.24 and Y4.100.
· Ability to perform structural analysis using engineering calculations.
· Evaluate materials for suitability in a given design through both analytical testing and theoretical calculation.
