#Mainframe DBDC System Specialist:
Responsibilities:
DBDC specialist is responsible for planning and performing installation and version upgrade of middleware products (DB2, CICS, MQ) on mainframe platform. In addition, he/she should understand the complexities of infrastructure design and maintenance, be able to analyze architecture and security issues, and perform advanced troubleshooting.
• Installation and version upgrade of DB/DC systems (DB2, CICS, Websphere MQ)
• DB/DC systems maintenance, objects definition
• Architecture analysis and design
• Performance monitoring and tuning
• Performing advanced troubleshooting
• Security issues analysis and defect prevention
• Root cause analysis
• Multi-environment knowledge of supported systems, maintaining operational documentation.
• Problem and change management
Requirements:
• Technical background
• Good knowledge of relational databases
• SQL language knowledge and skills
• Capability to work independently and effectively in complex environments
• Basic experience in troubleshooting and resolving database related problems
• Good communication and documentation skills
#Mainframe Database Administrator (DBA / IMS):
The Database Administrator is largely responsible for providing operational database services to the customer.
Responsibilities:
• Owning, tracking and resolving physical database related incidents and requests
• Fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within agreed time-frame
• Performing physical database changes to the application database objects
• Performing physical database maintenance and restores by running appropriate utility jobs and tools (e.g. UNLOAD/LOAD, REORG, RUNSTATS, RECOVER) based on the customer input
• Maintaining operational documentation
• Understanding the complexity of infrastructure design and maintenance
• Analyze architecture and security issues
• Performing advanced troubleshooting
• Identifying performance bottlenecks
• Providing administrative solutions where appropriate
• Initiating and performing changes on production systems and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established time-frames
• Focus on managing and resolving issues in agreed time
• Establishing and maintaining communication with technology customers to keep them updated with status of their requests
