Job description
DB2 z/OS Database Administrator will be responsible for customer support of DBA related requests.
The typical support activities encompass creating, managing, maintaining and administering physical databases. This can include but may not be limited to, database object reorganization, backup, and recovery of databases, promotion of new database objects, managing space of physical databases, and managing database access.
The responsibility includes SME knowledge to support complex DBA changes and provide support for junior DBAs.
Responsibilities:
• Provide prime shift Physical DBA Problem Determination and Resolution for production application databases.
• Review production application database monitoring output and provide remediation as necessary (e.g. space, CI/CA splits)
• Manage and perform physical database maintenance for production application databases by running appropriate utility jobs and tools. (e.g. backups, reorgs, run stats)
• Perform Physical Database restores for production application databases to recover from hardware or database product software problems, based on customer input
• Maintain production application database backup solution according to customer requirements
• Execute Physical Database changes to existing production application database objects which do not increase support requirements
• Participate in on-call duty
• Incident Management/ Problem Management/ Change Management:
- Checking & handling incidents
- Perform root cause analysis of incidents/problems
- Work on automation of incidents/problems

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
• Over 5 years of experience in DB2 Database Administration
• Good understanding and experience using IBM DB2 utilities and knowing how and when to use each of them
• Good understanding and knowledge of how to use various types of SQL (DDL, DML, DCL)
• Good experience and understanding of how to use various DB2 system commands
• Repeated and successful experience of how to use monitoring tools for tuning&monitoring, e.g. Omegamon
• Responsible character for Incident, Problem, Change Management Processes
• Candidate should be self-organized, eager to learn with a strong sense of analysis & troubleshooting skills, willing to share knowledge and experience openly
• Good verbal and written English communication skills
