The role is required to provide legal support as follows:
1. provide advice to the business and other teams on regulatory compliance and regulatory developments. Apart from Companies Act aspects, these will include laws on personal data protection, competition, export regulations, anti-bribery and a broad, diverse range of other aspects, given the nature of IBM's business.
2. provide legal advice to the business and other teams on contractual issues, including customer and vendor contracts, marketing sponsorship contracts, employment contracts, financing contracts.
3. provide legal support and management for mergers and acquisitions
4. provide legal oversight and management of Companies Act compliance and corporate secretarial matters
5. provide support on drafting and negotiations on customer and vendor contracts.
6. other legal advice and support as required.

The role will also support the wider ASEAN team where required.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

·  Legally qualified in Singapore/ UK/ US/ ANZ/ Malaysia.
·  5+ Post Qualification Experience, in private practice and/or as in-house lawyer, in corporate finance/ general banking and finance/ general commercial areas. General commercial litigation experience will also be considered. Technology industry experience is not required.
·  Strong and incisive legal analyses, drafting and communication skills. Strong ability to provide clear practical legal advice to the business. Strong ability to quickly identify salient legal principles, across a diverse range of matters, and to provide legal advice accordingly.
·  Sound people and organizational skills.
·  Must be solution oriented and be a strong team player.
·  The successful candidate enjoys working in an industry with innovation at its forefront and an environment of a diverse range of work matters and being able to find solutions for different situations .
