Your Role and Responsibilities
The Indirect Tax Professional will be assigned Indirect Tax responsibility for specific State and Local jurisdictions, which includes Tax Compliance, Customer Support and Tax Audit Support for IBM Corp and related companies as well as current/future acquired companies. The position involves teaming, involvement in special projects, and providing guidance to field operations and corporate support departments.

Responsibilities may include:
• Researching and analyzing sales and purchase transactions for tax compliance and potential tax savings.
• Working with vendor requests for tax only payments and providing exemption certificate documentation.
• Initiate and follow through with requested system changes to ensure compliance with state/local tax laws.
• Review and validate customer exemption documentation.
• Resolving issues related to sales tax charged to customers.
• Perform Quarterly Controls testing (SOX) for World Wide Business Controls.
• Review tax publications and rate / law changes for assigned states to identify any impact to processes, initiate changes needed to systems and internal process documents.
• Understanding and effectively communicating business activities and procedures.
• Clearly presenting and defending tax decisions upon audit.
• Researching complex tax questions / issues.
• Preparing Sales/Use Tax Reconciliations and filing tax returns.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
· Experience in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel
· Demonstrate analytical and communication skills

· Degree in Accounting, Finance or Tax
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
· Prior Tax experience
· Basic knowledge of RIA Checkpoint or other online tax research source.
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance or closely related degrees of study
