Internship/Praktikum: Improving an Open-Source gRPC CLI Tool
Internship GERMANY
Job description
gRPC is a widely used machine to machine network communication protocol within the IBM Z mainframe firmware.
To allow debugging, testing and manual intervention, IBM developed an open-source linux command-line tool to conveniently trigger RPCs (Remote Procedure Calls). This tool is called gWhisper and hosted on GitHub https://github.com/ibm/gWhisper . gWhisper focuses on high usability by introducing a new concept of tab-completion.
It utilizes and extends the features of interactive shells like bash, fish or zsh.
We are looking for motivated students (working student or thesis) helping us to stabilize and improve gWhisper, as well as to add new functionality to the tool.
Topics covered:
- Remote Procedure Call network protocols (gRPC)
- Command line user interface design
- Linux application development
- Parsing arguments according to a given grammar
