Job description
The Intellectual Property Paralegal is responsible for complex intellectual property administration tasks in the Intellectual Property (IP) department of IBM Germany, located in its headquarter in Ehningen near Stuttgart. The German IP department is responsible for IP matters arising in Germany, Austria, Italy, Poland and the Eastern European countries, in particular for inventions, patents, trademarks, copyrights, IP contracts and IP clearances.
The position requires in-depth knowledge of practices in front of the European Patent Office (EPO), German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA) as well as the formality procedures according to the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). Good interpersonal and communication skills are important for working closely with admin team colleagues, in-house patent attorneys, outside counsels as well as with various internal/external clients (including inventors). Experience in handling invention disclosures and in inventor compensation administration is beneficial.
We are looking for a paralegal, who is flexible and able to adapt to changes and enjoys working in international teams. Moreover we expect experience in working with IP management software (such as Anaqua), with various software tools running on personal computers and, in general, interest in acquiring new skills.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
· preferably a qualified intellectual property paralegal, e.g. Patentanwaltsfachangestelle(r)
· at least 5 years of professional practice working as intellectual property paralegal in private practice or in a patent department in industry
· expertise on EPC, PCT and German patent practice
· preferably experience in handling invention disclosures and in administration of inventor compensation
· language skills: fluent in German and very good skills in English
