Job description
IMS System Programmer is responsible for providing support for problem and change tickets and/or project tasks for server support operations surrounding the Database/Data Communications (DBDC),Customer Information Control System (CICS), DB2, or Information Management System (IMS) infrastructure. Incumbent assesses situation to determine problem facing the client. Responsible for providing day to day support and implementing changes to the client's environment. Project tasks range in complexity from standardized tasks that require following a set of repeatable steps to non-standard problems that require unique solutions. Processes for routine project work are created and improvements to the routine processes may be identified and implemented.
Responsibilities:
· Implement IMS base software installs and upgrades. Support project tasks for server support operations for service requests and non-ticketed work to client operating systems, hardware, software, applications or network systems
· Implement IMS related product installs and upgrades
· Advisory role in IMS area (e.g. database planning)
· Advisory role in customer and account consulting
· Support for DBA related tasks - Perform IMS maintenance and SMP/E ACTIONs
· Plan and perform DR (Disaster Recovery) - Perform RFS (Request For Service)
· Perform DBA change requests - Handle incidents - Handle unusual tasks and issues
· Plan and perform Health Checks and Analysis
· Work on automation of tasks (incl. checks) and issues Required:
· Very good knowledge of IMS database organization
· Very good knowledge about components (DLI and DBRC)
· Very good knowledge about logical data model
· Good knowledge about DB scripts
· Good knowledge about Fast Path databases
· Good knowledge of REXX, JCL, ISPF
· Basic assembler knowledge
· Excellent verbal and written English communication skills Good to have:
· Similar technical knowledge and experience in DB2 area
· Knowledge of creation and modification of exits written in Assembler language
· Knowledge of SMP/E and proven experience of mainframe software upgrades
· Experience with IBM, CA, BMC or Compuware tool-sets for managing DB2
· Knowledge of installing & tuning monitoring tools, eg. Omegamon, Mainview Additional Benefits:
