Your Role and Responsibilities
This job position is for IBM Japan.

[Summary]
We are hiring a few high motivated student interns to make a computing infrastructure high performant, sustainable, and secure for emerging workloads such as training and inferencing with AI foundation models (e.g. large language models).

[Job]
Research and development on system software to utilize AI accelerators (e.g. runtime, compiler), AI infrastructure optimization for high performance and sustainability on Kubernetes, AI foundation model solution or OpenShift, or Confidential Computing.

Period:Jan 1 , 2024 to Dec 31, 2024 (3 months or longer)
Time:9:00~17:36 (default)
Reduced working hours can be negotiated:
Place: Hakozaki Office (Tokyo) at IBM Japan
Salary:
9,700yen (for master's)」/10,900yen (for doctoral students)」(in case housing allowance is unnecessary)
15,700yen (for master's)」/16,900yen (for doctoral students)」(including housing allowance)
Commuting cost will be paid.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Basic computer programming skill and knowledge, basic English language capability to understand technical documents written in English and to have simple conversations in English. Besides, knowledge and skills in the areas mentioned in Job Description depending on the area of internship.

- Distributed Systems
- Operating System Internals and Virtualization
- Network and Storage Optimization for Distributed Parallel System
- System Performance Analysis and Modeling

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Preferred to have knowledge of all of the above-mentioned skills.
