Your Role and Responsibilities

IBM Quantum is seeking talented designers to join the quantum hardware design team at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY. The team focuses on delivering quantum processor and processor-adjacent designs to meet a variety of internal needs, and develops and drives the methodology to make these designs successful. Clients for design span exploratory research to production-roadmap quantum processor units. The successful candidate will work across the entire stack from high-level design down to technology details and synthesize requirements into the final product while feeding experience forward into new designs. Moreover, the candidate is expected to have familiarity with microwave engineering and relevant development tools, such as Keysight ADS, Cadence Virtuoso/Spectre, Ansys Electronics Desktop etc. Because the role includes collaboration between several diverse and dynamic teams of technical and operations personnel, good communication skills, initiative, and a strong sense of responsibility are key.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

·  At least 2 years of experience in microwave design.
·  Familiarity with electromagnetic simulation software.
·  Familiarity with layout and validation of physical design (e.g, of PCBs, ICs, custom masks etc.)

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

·  Familiarity with quantum computing, qubit design experience a plus.
·  Familiarity with RFIC design, simulation, and physical verification (e.g in a Keysight, Cadence, Synopsys, or Mentor IC design toolchain).
·  Process design kit organization/development.
·  Python
·  Linux familiarity
