Generative AI Research Scientist intern

Introduction
We are seeking Research Scientist candidates with demonstrated publication records in one or more of our focus areas and technical leadership potential. As part of the IBM Research team, you will conduct world-class research on innovative technologies and solutions and publish in top-tier conferences and journals. You also can contribute to the commercialization of the resulting assets. Demonstrated communication skills and ability to work independently, as well as in a team, are highly desired traits.

Your Role and Responsibilities
This is for a 2024 summer internship with the following start dates: May - August or June - September for quarter system schools.
As an intern, you will participate in a variety of activities to advance the field of code LLMs and contribute to IBM Research effort in the area. The activities will vary based on the needs of the project based at the time of the internship but will include some of the following:
·  LLM tuning performance
·  Synthetic training corpus generation
·  Instruction tuning
·  Unique aspects of code LLM vs language LLM
·  Benchmarking open source models
·  Evaluation of code LLM

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Experience with LLMs in general and code LLMs in particular

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Synthetic generation of training corpora for LLM. Benchmarking code LLMs. Instruction tuning. Transfer learning in code LLM.
Master's in CS program or equivalent preferred
