Job description
· Working Knowledge in AIX, Red Hat Linux, Sun Solaris & Windows Operating systems for Installation, configuration of new agents
· Knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, network security)
· Responsible for the architecture, engineering and operation of the Scheduling Software.
· Provides functional product support for the Scheduling Software.
· Analyzes Customer Technical Requirements, work with Architect and other SA's
· Applies Client Strategy & Planning into the work flow
· Performs functions to plan, install, configure, upgrade, decommission, maintain scheduling environment, and troubleshoot any failures.
· Installs and Configures agents, Integrate with SAP application or SQL application, etc.
· Works with DR team on as-needed basis.
· Implements backup/recovery process in conjunction with the backup and recovery team
· Assists in research of infrastructure for processing batch jobs.
· Works with Architect, PM and performs analysis and design of the business requirements and specifications.
· Improves batch operations processing, maintains procedures and Scheduling quality standards.
· Works with other support teams in configuration and testing of agents
· Analyzes complex application dependencies and pre-requisite relationships and develops solution.
· Works actively with the schedulers and applications developers to optimize job processing and scheduling aligned to business requirements & provide solution.
· Builds/develops custom job templates.
· Assists in operations architecture and monitoring, as well as automation solutions.
· Identifies technical, infrastructure, procedural issues and coordinates batch scheduling needs.
· Works as a team and shares knowledge
· Maintains focus on customer satisfaction through process improvement and communications.
· Applies Problem Solving Techniques
· Uses System Analysis & Monitor Tools
· Manages the preparation, monitoring and control of application production cycles.
· Responsible for the scheduling environment health monitoring, monitor System Performance and Capacity in various operating systems, and sizing of the scheduling environment as required.
· Identifies/resolves problems occurring in the non-prod & production environment, ensuring that permanent solutions are implemented to avoid the repetition of previously encountered problems.
· Leads and participates in special projects.
· Performs troubleshooting of system stalls, failed batch jobs, system errors, as needed to resume normal operations and provide a root cause analysis. Works with application programmers on Abends.
· Supports weekend projects and maintenance.
· Provides on call support 24x7 coverage for managing application as well as supporting batch processing.
· Validates that all application upgrades and patches are systematically applied to all server nodes and clients.
· Keeps up to date on new features and enhancements of the scheduling tool.
· Participates in root cause analysis for infrastructure related incidents
· Develops standard job definitions and ensures consistent deployments to all clients
· Participates in design reviews to ensure infrastructure and operational requirements are understood and addressed
· Trains the schedulers, Operations and customer, on all new features and functionality, as needed
· Uses Incident, Problem and Change management tool.
· Writes Unix shell scripts.
· Writes DB2 SQL
· Works with IBM L2 and L3 teams on scheduling tool/environment related issues.
