Job description
The IBM Watson and Cloud Platform Toolchain as a Service Team (TaaS), is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join a highly skilled and motivated team of software professionals. TaaS is responsible for providing 24x7 support for internally hosted instances of IBM UrbanCode Deploy, Jenkins, Docker swarm, and Artifactory hosted on Softlayer. This role will focus on helping internal teams to better utilize the tools using best practices to ensure better outcomes from the user community by providing user documentation. This role will also develop automation, optimize deployment strategies, implement and deploy business critical systems in SoftLayer, enhance monitoring, and learn emerging technologies (Cloud, Docker, Kuberneties).
Primary Responsibilities include but not limited to: • Have a customer first attitude.
• Prioritize, take on, and complete tasks in a self-directed manner using Github Issues.
• Work directly with users and stakeholders to resolve bugs and implement improvements.
• Respond quickly and accurately to user questions via email, Sametime, Slack, and Github.
• Participate in code reviews as part of a fast-paced, agile, continuous deployment process.
• Deliver fast, scalable, and fault tolerant services
Work Environment:
The team member will be expected to work with teams from other time zones and ensure that customer issues have continuous attention. At times the workload may require extra effort that involves working past the normal end-time for the day. Participation in an on-call rotation is also required.
