Your Role and Responsibilities
The z/OS platform runs mission-critical applications for some of the biggest and most demanding enterprise businesses in the world today. Therefore working on the z/OS platform means working in a fast moving, innovative environment, with customers and IBMers from all around the world. The z/OS platform offers opportunity for software developers that love to innovate as the the z/OS platform continues to offer its customers one of the most modern and exciting platforms available today. Modern development techniques and processes such as Agile and iterative development, Continuous integration and Continuous Delivery are being adopted across all IBM z/OS teams. Modern tools are also being adopted, such as those that use Containers and Kubernetes. And, it is not just within IBM where opportunities for innovation exist. The IBM teams working on z/OS are also helping IBM's z/OS customers to modernize their tools and processes.
If you would like to work in such an environment, the WebSphere on z/OS team is looking for developers to work on enhancing WebSphere Liberty on z/OS to meet their customer's current and emerging modernization needs. Candidates would review customer requests for enhancements and work with the team to develop new function for WebSphere Liberty on z/OS. The successful candidates would also develop long-term automated tests for the enhancements, field defect reports for the code, train the support team to ensure they have the technical skills needed to answer questions on the features and resolve user reported problems. Additionally, there would be opportunities to work directly with z/OS customers and work with teams across IBM to adopt new processes and tooling.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
· Demonstrated experience in a Software development role
· Exhibit professional experience in Java and C
· Demonstrated experience of development environments and build tools, for example: Eclipse IDE, Maven, Github
· General knowledge of z/OS: TSO/ISPF, USS Linux Shell
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
· Deeper knowledge of z/OS is helpful: SAF/RACF, RTM, JES
· Java or C++
