As a contributor to the team, you'll share knowledge and collaborate with your team to address ambiguous, complex problems and projects. You'll apply User Experience, Design Thinking, Information Architecture methods to uncover user and business requirements in the context of the technical landscape; while evaluating the effectiveness and adequacy of existing/proposed solutions. It is expected that you will work with a senior team member to establish priority, fidelity and delivery of tasks.
You will participate in discussions and presentations for both internal projects and delivery purposes. Possess the skills required to collect, reflect and take action on feedback from stakeholder interactions, design validation sessions and playbacks and be able to support you design decisions with qualified research and rationale. You must be able to negotiate and evolve the design in support of more senior designers to explore possible solutions that will be upheld in the delivered product.
You are expected to participate in the overall improvement of the IBM Design community by being ambassadors of design excellence through action, education and mentorship. Global knowledge sharing and management is key to IBM's success. Individuals will participate in the creation, harvesting, protection, and reuse of IBM's intellectual capital and will actively participate in knowledge sharing activities like communities of practice, forums, conferences and/or other knowledge exchanges.
The Experience Designer is able to absorb design direction quickly to produce consistency in design of products and digital experiences. Learns new skills quickly to adapt to solve problems. Is empathetic and attune to users' needs, motivations, and behaviors. Has hands-on skills in tools meant for rapid prototyping, system diagramming, navigation design, experience design languages and presentation.
The Experience Designer makes inquiries across functions to root out the nature of a problem and analyses the opportunities they present. Prepares and presents multiple options for solving the problems. Develops inventive resolution to problems of limited scope. Learns to recognize processes that contribute to cognitive load and cognitive barriers for the user, while making plans to resolve the complexity. Evaluates strategies for building on existing design metaphors that users are familiar with to introduce new design concepts. Creates quick prototypes to test hypothesis and quickly iterates to develop the exploration of concepts.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

· Demonstrate experience in user research and usability testing
· Knowledgeable in multiple prototyping approaches including: Paper, coded and through tools such as Invision and Axure
· Ability to get under the skin of target audiences', to understand their needsSolid oral, written communication and presentation skills
