We are looking for a highly motivated and innovative Database Specialist Consultant, who’ll join our Data & AI Software services organization IBM Expert Labs in the beautiful city of Kraków, Poland. We’re looking for a person with a passion to design and implement solutions in the world of database. Also we are looking for a person with an aspiration to grow skills further up in the world of data warehousing, big data and data lakes.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a specialist consultant, working under minimal supervision you will provide subject matter expertise in the form of supporting briefings, workshops, and/or consulting engagements within your domain that assess a client’s database capabilities as well as recommending solutions to enhance the client’s overall database capabilities.

This position will also work directly with cross functional teams, product management, support and engineering to develop and help maintain database systems at customers.

Your Role and Responsibilities:

·  Work on IBM Db2 and/or Informix based systems – provide development, deployment and post go-live services
·  Configure Db2/Informix-based databases and solutions in line with technical specifications and designed architectures
·  Involve in product installation/ configurations, troubleshooting (performance, 3rd party integrations, security, high availability)
·  Develop ETL processes, stored procedures, custom functions and automations in client projects
·  Document configurations and custom code
·  Support customers in solution testing

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

·  BS. in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience in Computer Science/Information Systems/Engineering/STEM
·  Database and data management domain experience
·  Database administration skills + corresponding operating system, storage and network skills
·  Custom functions, stored procedures, SQL, ETL development and troubleshooting skills
·  Virtualisation and containerisation skills
·  Good English language skills (written and spoken)
·  Customer focus (ability to set correct expectations, meet deadlines and proactively communicate with Customer)
·  Problem solving (technical diagnosis and identifying path to resolution)
·  Knowledge in second European language despite good command of English is a must

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

·  Bachelor or Master Thesis in the area of databases, data warehousing or data management
·  Linux/Unix (AIX,zLinux) administration
·  High availability and Disaster Recovery configuration experience – storage, network, OS, DB
·  Good hands-on Linux/Unix Shell scripting, Python, Ansible, Java, C/C++
·  Working knowledge with Git, docker/podman, kubernetes, RedHat OpenShift
·  Db2, Informix or another DB system administrator/developer certificate
·  Skills in open source and commercial data bases and management systems, like Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, Apache Hive, Oracle DBs and data warehouses, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL
·  Preferred second European language, such as German, French, Spanish, Italian
