Job description

Introduction
The ideal candidate for this role will become an active member of a globally distributed
team responsible for ensuring DB and related services, are running smoothly, and providing customers
the quality of service they’ve come to expect. This role is focused on building and scaling next
generation data analytics and machine learning platforms to enhance capabilities of offerings running
on DB stack. The candidate will be working in an exciting and rapidly expanding environment
deploying, monitoring, and optimizing globally distributed systems while collaborating with a group of
skilled engineers and developers from around the world.

Your Role and Responsibilities
Participating in an on-call rotation (follow the sun between global sites)
o Hands on with AWS or competitive cloud technologies for DBRE
o Configuring and maintaining SQL, NoSQL, and data streaming technologies (e.g. CouchDB,
Redis, Kafka, Spark, etc.)
o Documenting and defining processes and procedures
o Implementing CI/CD based deployment and updates for all datastores

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

2+ years of expert hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including but not limited to
EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, and IAM.
- Deploy, and manage database solutions on AWS while optimizing for performance, security,
and cost.
- 2+ years of experience AWS or similar cloud
- 2+ years of experience supporting data technologies in a 24x7 production environment; at least
- 2-5 years of experience with NoSQL and/or data streaming technologies.
- Knowledge with at least one NoSQL or data streaming platform (e.g. CouchDB, Redis, Spark,
Kafka, etc.)
- Knowledge of HA and scaling strategies for NoSQL platforms (e.g. sharding, partitioning, replica
sets, etc.)
- Knowledge of automation and/or automation frameworks for task completion (e.g. Ansible etc.)
- Familiarity with at least one RDBMS (e.g. Oracle, Postgres, etc)
- Hands on experience working with Linux environments
- Fluent English

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

- Excellent communication and technical documentation skills
- Familiarity with one or more version control systems (Git, Subversion, Mercurial)
- Familiarity with virtualization and cloud infrastructure technologies
- Hands on experience with at least one configuration management framework
- Hands on experience with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana (or similar technologies)
