Database Administrator - DB2 DBA

Job description

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Perform daily, weekly, and monthly monitoring procedures according to best practices
* Ensure database and application is optimized
* Pro-actively address any issues/trends that may lead to a future problem or detect potential space issues.
* Create primary database storage structures (table spaces) once developers have designed an application.
* Modify the database structure, as necessary, from information given by application developers.
* Manage Backup, Security, and Controls of databases
* Enroll users and maintain system security.
* Control and monitor user access to the database.
* Monitor and optimize the performance of the database.
* Support thef DB2 databases according to IBM application security procedures and policy.
* Be engaged with application team and ongoing support team until problem resolution
* Use RTC as the trusted source of assigned work items, update timely and accurately, communicating via RTC for full transparency
* Keep DB documentation files updated
* Collaborate with other DBA(s) on the team, share your knowledge
* Attend Daily Scrums
* Restore DB and application server whenever required
* Attend scheduled application deployments when DB2 backups and restores are required
* Manage Storage & IO performance issues related to databases
* Resolve data propagation (dPROP) issues between Lighthouse and Learning & Knowledge DataMart.
* Design the logical and physical structure of the database (storage parameters) as needed
* Compliance with IBM DB2 License agreements.
* Database tuning and Lucene/SOLR index tuning and optimization
* Plan, document and implement new data base management system software and release upgrades as dictated by IBM Software Roadmap
* Implement and maintain all procedures for backup and recovery of data base management systems, including audit logs of all data base activity.
* Assist in file design, file maintenance and file space management related to data
