Data Science and AI Technical Sales Specialist

We are in a data science renaissance. Companies that embrace data science will lead, and those who do not will fall behind.

To help IBM's clients lead, we are expanding our team of software specialists to help realise the potential of data science and AI technologies. This is a Technical Sales role working with some of the latest machine learning and cognitive software developments, including the IBM flagship brand of Watson. Working closely with Sales, your responsibility will be to work with IBM and related analytics software to demonstrate the “art of the possible” in the realm of data and AI technology adoption. You will be working across industries covering our Australian and New Zealand customer base, and involved in product demonstrations, showcases and proof of technology delivery.
It is expected that you will become a “blackbelt” specialist in the offerings, dedicated to knowing the technology inside-and-out, answer RFPs, do POCs, technology briefings and Hackathons, and be the go-to person in the field for technical and product related questions. Ideal candidates would have prior experience working with data science and predictive modelling solutions, possess familiarity with analytics and data warehousing concepts, cognitive software developments and have previous experience in a technical sales role.
The Data Science and AI role specifically supports the following products:
- Watson Studio (formerly the Data Science Experience suite)
- SPSS
- Watson Machine Learning
- Watson AI Openscale
- Watson API's
It is essential that you are a driven technical sales person with demonstrated technical aptitude, hands on experience, and track record in developing data science or cognitive based solutions for clients.
Key Responsibilities:
·  Demonstrated Technical aptitude, business value aptitude, with a high level of written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
·  Taking initiative and driving team members toward a common goal of winning business
·  Engage in deep technical discussion with data scientists and business stakeholders
·  Identifying client's business and technical requirements
·  Articulating the technical benefits of IBM's Data Science and AI products, solutions and services and how they provide clients with tangible business value
·  Influencing key client decision makers and technical evaluators
·  Developing and delivering compelling cloud based demonstrations, technical deep dives, proofs of technology and other pre-sales assets
·  Ability to build and deliver technical solutions to clients business needs
·  Commitment to stay current with SaaS, Cloud Data Services, and industry/sector trends
·  Ability to articulate, define and execute creative strategies to grow the business and reach new markets to include our customer base and developer communities
Required Skills:

·  At least 3 years' relevant experience in a technical sales or consulting role
·  Strong experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, C++, Scala, etc.
·  Demonstrated background in existing data science software (SPSS, SAS, Dataiku, Databricks, Alteryx or equivalent)
Preferred Skills:
·  Strong analytic skills related to working with datasets
·  Understanding of design thinking and MVP builds
·  Degree qualified in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field.
Soft skills
·  Interpersonal and engagement skills. You'll be working with a variety of clients, both technical and non-technical.
·  Able to work independently, you're a self-starter.
·  You'll be on the fore-front of some of the newest tech in the world. Nothing will be impossible to you – you have a “start-up” mindset.
·  You're a tech evangelist – you share your love for data science at meet-ups, on blogs, social media and industry events.
