The following student position is a part of IBM Canada's EPIC (Employment Pathways to Interns & Co-ops) Student Program. This position is only open to students registered in a Canadian University or College program, who have completed a minimum of 2 years of their degree or diploma program, and who must be returning to full-time study upon the completion of the temporary IBM work term.
*This Student Position resides in Ottawa, Ontario and is a 4 month work term commencing January, 2017.

Main Responsibilities for Cognos Analytics Web Application Developer include:
Businesses are generating enormous amounts of data. Analytics are the brains that turn all that raw data into actionable information. Our Cognos Analytics product offers smart, self-service capabilities so clients can identify and act on this information. We pride ourselves in using emerging technologies to provide beautiful interactive visualizations, as well as cognitive and contextual computing to empower our business users.
The Cognos Analytics teams include several Client User Interface development teams for Dashboards, Administration, Data Modeling, and other feature teams with expertise in Web Application Development.
You can find all of our developers, designers and product managers working away at the Riverside building in Ottawa. Our team is organized into sub-teams who own different parts of the product and work like mini “startups.” Together, they make the magic happen; continuously shipping awesome features to our clients.
Our agile space and tools allow us to collaborate and explore ideas easily. Teams use whiteboard walls, “war” rooms and our state-of-the-art design studio to get things done. However, our “secret sauce” really lies in our awesome people and culture. We enjoy building a quality product, crafting an amazing user experience, and having lots of fun in the process.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
· Course work or on the job knowledge in one or more of the following: Java, JavaScript, JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery/Bootstrap
· Course work or on the job knowledge of using web application development tools and techniques
· Proven problem-solving skills
· Experience with Windows and/or Linux operating systems
