*This position resides in Calgary, AB and is a 4 (co-op) month work term commencing May 2019 . It is mandatory that all applicants are enrolled in full-time studies at a post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies upon completion of the work term.

This position is for the IBM Cognitive & Advanced Analytics Solutions team in Calgary. Our team is looking for candidates with exceptional technical aptitude, a passion for engineering, and an interest in applied data science.
The successful candidate will join a small, fast paced consulting team, composed of Partners, Product Managers, Data Scientists, Architects and other Software Engineers to conceptualize, develop and deploy cognitive applications. As a team, we pride ourselves in tackling some of the most difficult business problems our clients face by bringing together subject matter expertise, data science, and implementation know-how.
As a Cognitive Software Developer, you will have the opportunity to learn and use industry leading computing technologies while assigned to in-flight client engagements. Depending on the project's technical requirements, you will have the opportunity use proprietary IBM technologies such as IBM Streaming Analytics while embracing open source technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, Spark, and Cassandra.
Our team is language-agnostic but most of our recent work is written in Go, python, and JavaScript.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
· Co-op or internship program enrollment is mandatory
· Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
· Software development experience coding in a general-purpose programming language
· Demonstrated examples of coding in the following programming languages but not limited to: python, JavaScript, Go
· Demonstrated ability to work as part of a cross-functional team through excellent communication skills
· General knowledge of database design and technologies
· A creative problem solver with a proactive work ethic
