What does the Cognitive & Analytics Consultant Intern role entail?
You will provide technical and analytical support in order to gain business understanding, prepare data, analyze data, and build and evaluate either predictive (regression or classification) or prescriptive (simulation or optimization) models. Data Analytics consultants at IBM will deploy advanced analytics techniques that are traditionally applied to structured data, as well as Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning techniques for unstructured content, to enable comprehensive cognitive solutions.

What do we look for in a successful Consulting Intern?
We are looking for students that can demonstrate the following traits:
·  An interest in government and how digital technology can impact and transform day to day processes
·  Analytical ability to be create innovative solutions, informed by data, and a passion for implementing the change needed to ensure successful solutions
·  Strong problem-solving skills and the desire to constantly learn and grow
·  Team oriented mentality, but can also complete work independently as needed
·  Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate and present information clearly and concisely to clients and teammates
·  A track record of leadership, flexibility and proactivity
·  We are looking for students that have exposure to and/or understanding of Bluemix, Watson APIs, SPSS, SAS, R, Hadoop, Spark, TensorFlow, Watson Analytics, Tableau, an/or D3 (Data Driven Documents). Additionally, experience from coursework or projects using Machine Learning and/or Natural Language Processing is a plus.

Required Qualifications
·  Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree with a graduation date of December 2019 - May 2020
·  Willingness and ability to travel up to 100% of the time, if project/business needs require. Although most projects are local to the D.C. Metro Area, projects exist that require travel
·  Relocation to the Washington DC metropolitan area for the summer
·  U.S. citizenship
·  Ability to obtain a security clearance, if needed
Preferred Qualifications
·  GPA above a 3.2 is strongly preferred
·  Preferred Degree/Majors : Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, or Artificial Intelligence.

Additional information
Interns hired into Public Sector must be US Citizens, have the ability to obtain a security clearance, and be local or willing to relocate to the Washington, DC Metro area. While most projects are local to the DC Metro area, you must be willing to travel if needed. Additional work locations may be available on a project-by-project basis.
