Job description

Bluemix is IBM's Platform as a Service (PaaS) and is a core part of IBM's cloud strategy. The Bluemix team is trailblazing new technology platform and cloud services, business models, developer outreach, and with the creation of the Bluemix Garage - a new type of consulting services lab.

We are assembling an ‘A' team of developers, product managers, and designers. Collaboration and rapid iteration is at the core of the way we design and build products. Garage developers will pair with other designers and developers to rapidly develop engaging solutions for client projects in 4 to 12 week cycles.

We are looking for developers with demonstrated interpersonal skills. We want developers who are excited to explore new technologies. Garage Developers will handle pair programming, test driving development, and continuous integration and deployment. Bluemix is rapidly adding new IBM and partner services, so the candidate will be continuously learning new skills as we execute client projects in 4 to 12 weeks.

We are currently seeking a Front End Developer in our Melbourne office.

As a Bluemix Software Developer, you will develop code and work with other developers to deliver applications created and hosted on Bluemix.. Between projects, you will harvest and document best practices and lessons learned. There will also be opportunities to work with teams in other regions interested in starting new Garages.

The Melbourne Bluemix Garage will be an exciting new working environment. We will be housed in a startup community with in an open workspace with the latest Mac pairing stations.

Required:
·  Bachelor's Degree
·  At least 2 years' experience in software development using Java and other languages
·  At least 2 years' experience in building cloud applications
·  Prior experience with pair programming or Bluemix will be preferred but not essential
·  Demonstrated work with cloud, mobile, or open source technologies is a significant plus. Preferred experience in:
·  Proven experience developing high quality web applications.
·  Demonstrably excellent skills in HTML, CSS (Sass) and Javascript
·  Proven ability to leverage APIs effectively
·  Current Javascript frameworks and libraries (e.g. React, Angular, etc)
·  Common build technologies (e.g. Grunt, Gulp)
·  General knowledge of Node, including basic installation, package management, server configuration
·  Understanding and familiarity with best practices for web usability, interaction design and implementation
·  Know how to use source control tools, especially Git
·  Native Application development
