As an Associate Partner working on the Defence team of the Federal Public Sector, you will develop innovative solutions to resolve our clients' most vital business and technical issues, utilizing your functional business experience of defence support processes, people and systems.

The Associate Partner is accountable for the financial success and client satisfaction of the Department of National Defence (DND) and Defence Industry related engagements under their direction. They define criteria for the scope, risk and profitability of existing engagements, as well as the viability of entering into new engagements within any part of defence. They identify, qualify, assist, and manage the closing of new business. They develop lasting relationships based on mutual respect with decision makers. The Associate Partner significantly influences client satisfaction with IBM through knowledge of the defence industry and our solutions and an ability to articulate solution value for the client. They also direct the development of new solution offerings or methods to support the ever-changing needs of defence clients.

This position is required to be client-facing, assigned to the development of new opportunities and services proposals more frequently than direct client billable engagements. The understanding of the interaction of defence related business requirements to underlying technological needs is mandatory and the candidate must be able to identify and pursue new business opportunities.

When not participating in new business development or bid and proposal activity, the Associate Partner is expected to participate in ongoing billable client activities where follow-on efforts are visualized for the rest of IBM's product lines, participate in the resolution of critical situations, participate in related public sector solution areas and monitor the health of the defence practice.

Global knowledge sharing and management is key to IBM's success. The successful candidate will participate in, and/or be responsible for the creation, harvesting, protection and reuse of IBM's defence related intellectual capital. They will participate actively in knowledge sharing activities like communities of practice, forums, conferences and/or other knowledge exchanges.

The successful incumbent will have demonstrated strong interpersonal relationship and networking skills. They will have a demonstrated ability to build and articulate a vision and then see it through to its successful conclusion. They will have a strong desire to succeed and be strongly committed to finding and providing high quality solutions for defence clients, including the DND and the Defence Industry.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Functional and/or technical knowledge of the many aspects of defence information systems, systems development and system support processes and methods
Proven track record in developing strong client relationships with a particular focus at the senior management and executive levels
Exposure to and understanding of consulting services
Strong communication skills including extensive experience dealing at the executive level
At least 10 years experience in a defence related environment or at least 10 years experience in working directly for or with DND
At least 5 years experience in people management of senior staff
At least 5 years experience in delivering successful projects, notably complex systems integration, and package implementations

Must have Canadian Federal Government Security Clearance – Enhanced Reliability Status or higher. Selected candidates may not need to travel for all projects outside of their metro area. However, all candidates must be able and willing to travel based on assigned project demand. Travel requirements may vary but could be up to 100%. Candidates are not able to refuse project based on travel.
