IBM Systems builds a range of general purpose and integrated systems designed and optimized for specific business, public and scientific computing needs. These systems—Mainframe systems and Power systems —are typically the core technology in data centers that provide required infrastructure for business and institutions.

Who you are:

AIX Development Support Organization (DSO). The AIX Development Support team is the primary interface between AIX Development and pSeries customers. The development support professional will assist with problem diagnosis and determination down to the line of code for AIX software customers utilizing various pSeries hardware systems.

What you'll do:

General Skills:

C (with data structures/advanced data structures), compilation stages, UNIX/Linux commands, shell scripting, UNIX Internals (process management, memory management, File system management, Inter process communication, io, socket programming), TCP/IP stack and network protocols, basic device driver programming, interrupt handling, trouble shooting using KDB, iptraces, kernel traces, gdb/dbx. wireshark, cscope, familiarity with binary/octal/hex/ascii packets and decode them to control structures, crash analysis, AIX system boot process and issues. System Cloning, Backup, mksysb, Familiarity with AIX/Linux environment and Commands

Support Process Related Skills (Recommended but not mandatory) :

AIX L2 process like ECPAAT, SLA levels, coordinating with L1, L2, L3 and Dev teams understanding the clear defined scope of each level, creating accounts and tool usage including RETAIN, AIX servers, call center, GSA login, ecurep, CMVC, OPC, code path from GSA tree, blue diamond process. APAR Draft process, PMR process

Miscellaneous Skills:

Handling pager and swiftly responding with solution/workaround to customer, creating sandbox, code to assembly mapping, isolating issue, writing technical blogs, Tech Notes, publishing/filing patents.

Component Specific Skills (Any one skill is sufficient to apply. More the merrier)

AIX TCP-IP/Apps Component Specific Skills:
AIX TCP/IP Kernel internals and protocol stack, AIX TCPIP Apps, Network device drivers, AIX Kernel internals and debugging, AIX Applications debugging using dbx, AIX performance analysis and tuning, VIOS configuration and Shared Ethernet Adapter driver

FSLV components specific Skills:

Logical Volume Manager, FSCK, AIO (legacy & POSIX), JFS, FS2 (J2), file systems and file system corruption, Metadata corruption, File System mount issues, Disk corruption, ODM corruption, LVM driver issues, LVM VGDA corruption, LVM Mirror issues, Disk reservation conflict, SSP(shared storage pool) EFS(Encrypted File system), Flash Cache, J2 file system crash dump analysis. AIX NFS, NIS, NISPLUS, Auto mount, NFS V4, RPC, mount, NFS lock manager, PCNFS, WebNFS, NDAF, (Network Data Administration Facility), portmap, rpcinfo, rpcsec, rpcldap, GSSD (General Security Services Daemon), AHAFS(Autonomic Health Advisor File System), NFS core dump analysis.

Kernel Component Specific Skills:

Os Internals : IPC(Inter process Communication), Semaphore, Mutex, Process Synchronization, Shared Memory, Process control block
VMM (Virtual Memory Mgmt) Virtual Address, Virtual Memory, Memory Management, DMA, Memory Leaks, CPU Scheduling, Process states, System throughput, CPU scheduling algorithms, Page replacement policy, page tables, Page-frame mapping, Page replacement algorithms

Storage Component specific Skills:

CDROM driver, FC adapter driver, FC disk driver, FC tape driver, FCoE ( Fibre Channel over ethernet), MPIO ( Multipath i/o ), SCSI disk driver, SISRAID driver , SISSAS adapter driver, USB driver, Configuration methods

VIOS Component Specific Skills:

Virtualization Concepts- PowerVM, TCP/I Ethernet , SEA, vNIC Storage , SCSI and NPIV Protocol, DM File system, Cluster Aware AIX (CAA)

PowerHA Component Specific Skills:

HACMP/RSCT concepts , Cluster Aware AIX (CAA)

AIX Commands & Libs Component Specific Skills:

AIX Internals concepts like performance, LVM, boot, AIX security modules like LDAP, Kerberos, PAM.
Security concepts like RBAC and Trusted Execution AIX Accounting and Auditing, libc
