Junior Sommelier

Job description

· Recommend and serve wines to guests, ensuring proper presentation and pairing with menu items
· Maintain accurate inventory of wines and update wine lists as required
· Ensure compliance with proper storage standards, hygiene, and hotel policies for wine service
· Monitor wine stock levels and communicate replenishment needs to the supervisor or manager
· Assist in organizing wine tastings and promotional events for guests
· Handle guest queries regarding wine selection and provide professional advice
· Maintain records of wine sales and contribute to achieving upselling targets
· Collaborate with kitchen and service teams to ensure seamless food and wine pairing
· Support in training service staff on wine knowledge and proper serving techniques
· Stay updated on wine trends, regions, and vintages to enhance guest experience

Desired profile

Qualifications :

·  Diploma or certification in Hospitality, Food & Beverage, or specialized wine studies (e.g., WSET Level 2 or equivalent)
·  Minimum 1–2 years of experience in wine service or as a waiter with strong wine knowledge
·  Good understanding of wine regions, varietals, and food pairing principles
·  Excellent communication and guest interaction skills with a passion for wine
·  Ability to work under pressure and maintain high service standards in a luxury environment
