At Grand Hyatt Barcelona , one of the city's newest and most prestigious luxury landmarks, we are seeking an accomplished, strategic, and people‑focused Director of Engineering to lead our Engineering team.

As Director of Engineering, you will play a critical role in defining and executing the technical, operational, and financial strategy of the Engineering Department. You will be fully responsible for maintaining the hotel's physical assets at the highest standards of safety, efficiency, sustainability, and luxury, while leading a high‑performing engineering team and partnering closely with hotel leadership to deliver an exceptional guest experience. About the Role

As Director of Engineering at Grand Hyatt Barcelona , you are the ultimate guardian of the hotel's infrastructure and a key member of the hotel's senior leadership team. You provide strategic and operational leadership of the Engineering function, ensuring the reliability, safety, and long‑term value of all building systems, equipment, and facilities.

This is a full time leadership position (40 hours per week) offered on a permanent contract. The schedule is aligned with hotel operational needs and includes on‑call responsibility and availability for emergencies, major projects, or critical operational situations. You will work closely with Engineering, Housekeeping, Front Office, Culinary, Security, Finance, Human Resources, and external partners to ensure regulatory compliance and seamless hotel operations.

Key Responsibilities

The Director of Engineering leads and oversees the Engineering Department, ensuring all building systems, facilities, and technical operations support the hotel's operational excellence, financial performance, and guest satisfaction.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Providing strategic and operational leadership of the Engineering Department in line with Hyatt standards and business objectives

Ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and reliability of all hotel infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and life‑safety systems

·
Developing and overseeing preventive maintenance programs, asset protection plans, and long‑term technical strategies

·
Preparing, managing, and controlling the departmental budget, payroll, forecasts, and overall P&L performance

·
Leading capital expenditure projects, renovations, and technical upgrades, ensuring delivery on time and within approved budgets

Ensuring full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements

·
Leading, developing, and mentoring the engineering leadership team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

·
Partnering closely with other hotel departments to support seamless operations and resolve operational or guest‑related technical issues

·
Acting as the primary technical advisor to hotel leadership, ownership, and external partners

Desired profile

Qualifications :

Qualifications & Requirements

· 
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or similar), with officially recognized licensure / qualification as an Engineer

· 
Significant progressive experience in hotel engineering or facilities management, preferably within luxury or upscale hospitality or large, complex properties

· 
Proven experience as a Director of Engineering or in a senior engineering leadership role

· 
Strong technical expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and fire & life‑safety systems

· 
Strong financial acumen, including budget management, P&L oversight, cost control, and capital planning

· 
Solid knowledge of health, safety, regulatory compliance, and risk management

· 
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills

· 
Strategic mindset combined with hands‑on operational capabilities

· 
Fluency in English and Spanish is required; additional languages are an asset

· 
Proficiency in CMMS systems and Microsoft Office tools

· 
Flexibility to meet operational demands and on‑call responsibilities
