We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Software Engineering Manager

Business: Wealth & Personal Banking IT

Principal responsibilities 

·  The role is responsible for working across the Technology delivery lifecycle including inception, construction, testing, release and ongoing management of a product or service in WPB technology.
·  Provide support across the end-to-end delivery and run lifecycle, utilising their skills and expertise to carry out software development, testing and operational support activities with the ability to move between these according to demand
·  End-to-end accountability for a product or service, identifying and developing the most appropriate Technology solutions to meet customer needs as part of the Customer Journey
·  Liaise with other engineers, architects and business stakeholders to understand and drive the product or service's direction
·  Establish a digital environment and automate processes to minimize variation and ensure predictable high quality code and data
·  To demise legacy Accounts applications, or replaced by Strategic solutions adhering to FSA
·  Create technical test plans and records, including unit and integration tests, within automated test environments to ensure code quality
·  Provide support to DevOps teams working at all stages of a product or service release/change with a strong customer focus and end-to-end journeys, ensuring they have an excellent domain knowledge
·  Working with Ops, Dev and Test Engineers to ensure operational issues (performance, operator intervention, alerting, design defect related issues, etc.) are identified and addressed at all stages of a product or service release/change
·  Provide support in identification and resolution of all incidents associated with the IT service, as directed by leadership of the DevOps team
·  Ensure service resilience, service sustainability and recovery time objectives are met for all the software solutions delivered
·  Responsible for automating the continuous integration/continuous delivery pipeline within a DevOps Product/Service team driving a culture of continuous improvement
·  Keep up-to-date and have expertise on current tools, technologies and areas like cyber security and regulations pertaining to aspects like data privacy, consent, data residency etc. that are applicable

Requirements

·  University Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline
·  Demonstrable entrepreneurial spirit; A change driver and fast leaner.
·  Solid and proficient skills in Java, Spring Framework, Web Service, JSON, RAML.
·  Solid leadership experience in people management across local and global locations
·  Experience of working in a DevOps focused environment and working in an Agile Team. Flexible and adaptable in accommodating change of requirement and willing to take new responsibilities when necessary.
·  Knowledge of architecture disciplines and the ability put the governance into practice, knowledge of industry standards will be an advantage.
·  Be able to work across multiple domains of knowledge and skills, and share knowledge across the team. We like people who dig down, understand concepts in detail.
·  Knowledge or experience in Enterprise Integration Platform (EIP) and API design with implementation experience on any ESB tools (e.g. IIB , K+B2ong, MQ, SpringBoot)
·  Knowledge and experience of Microservice, Restful API, Agile concepts. SAFe Agilist certificate is a plus.
·  Knowledge of DevOps tooling such as Jenkins, Git, Ansible, Splunk, Jira/Confluence, AppD, Docker, Kubernetes
·  Track record in working on the delivery of complex deployment projects and under diversified/ matrix structure
·  Strong analytical, design and problem solving skills; excellent team player with ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
·  Strong business sense with good understanding in how IT systems impact business objectives
·  Strong communication, presentation & influencing skills, able to operate well across cultures and in multi-cultural, diverse work environments
·  Proven contribution to international academic and industrial communities and/or open source communities will be a huge advantage.
·  Business knowledge in financial services industry (retail, wholesale and investment banking, wealth management, insurance, financial markets, etc.) is preferred.
·  Capability of reading newest academic and research papers in the areas of banking, financial services and technologies is a must.
·  We value intellectually curious, creative people who enjoy solving challenging, interesting problems and building breakthrough products with growth mind-set.
·  Principles of Lean Startup Methodology and a VC-style portfolio management; able to imbed those into HSBC’s Agile methodology. Critical is the ability to evolve new or start-up propositions to at least stage A or B.
·  Ecosystem knowledge and connectivity including incubators, accelerators, VCs and startups.
·  Hands on delivery of digital products in a large enterprise.
