We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Consultant Specialist.
Business: Wholesale Technology
Principal responsibilities
· Work with the Wholesale Client Services Engineering Leadership to build out consistent tools and infrastructure across our products to improve delivery and outcomes across the teams.
· Accountable for the execution of tooling and infrastructure capabilities across WCS, managing the day to day delivery of these products and helping the adoption and growth of these products across the Wholesale Client Services IT and wider Wholesale IT communities.
· Responsible for utilising appropriate infrastructure technology solutions that are cost-effective, supportable in their re-use and aligning to the wider architecture strategy across Wholesale Client Services.
· Engage with stakeholders and demonstrate the ability to advise them on any technical related issues
· Work closely with Cyber-Security, Risk and Compliance to ensure effective technical, organisational and operational controls on data privacy and security are in place for the platform and IT team
· Work with Wholesale business product owners stakeholders to provide technical solutions, consultancy and support to satisfy global business needs
Leadership & Teamwork
· Create a high-performing, high-energy working environment for engineers to attract key talent and help develop people to provide for succession and ensure delivery of objectives
· Drive the implementation of a delivery-focused DevOps environment with a fixation on being agile rather than just following prescriptive Agile methodology
· Implement IT controls to ensure compliance with Wholesale service and delivery management controls
· Support the wider engineering community to align with the team’s development and delivery principles
· Work with Wholesale Client Services and SmartServe Product Owners to build out tools enabling better resilience and support across our applications.
· Drive and encourage constructive cross-region teamwork through collaboration and co-operation
· Demonstrate speak up and collaborative behaviours to encourage a stronger engineering culture across our global teams.
· Set and maintain the highest possible conduct standards across all aspects of technical delivery
· Work closely with architecture to ensure underlying implications of decisions are understood and to maintain strong collaborative relationships between the engineering and architecture teams.
Requirements
· Extensive experience of agile delivery and delivering code at pace is essential
· Extensive experience in owning and improving the development practice of continuous delivery
· Experience in full software development lifecycle from design to deployment, understanding practices and trends in software development
· Proven ability to be able to communicate through code, by having strong experience in at least Java and Javascript
· Experience building front-to-back software solutions – including tooling, databases, front-end and back-end services.
· Strong Experience with SQL databases
· Experience with building monitoring and alerting solutions for products.
· Experience actively supporting products in production.
· Knowledge of technology and technology trends, and the ability to provide technology consultancy to senior business heads
· Good exposure to and working experience with Kubernetes
· Good understanding of end to end client / customer life cycle in Commercial and Global banking
· Ability to deliver results in an environment with increasing regulation having an impact on globally-consistent technical delivery
· Strong influencer who can bring together disparate and virtual teams and coalesce them around a common goal
