We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Business Analyst.

Principal Responsibilities

Role Purpose and Impact on Business:

·  Reporting to the ESG Reporting Lead within Global Insurance, this role will help drive the delivery of robust and auditable investment asset database and processes across HSBC’s Insurance Manufacturing entities. Supporting the monthly performance reporting, forecasting and annual planning of key metrics relating to sustainable investment and ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of insight to support key business decision-making forums including the WPB Monthly Sustainability Oversight Forum and the Global Insurance Operating & Executive Committees
·  This role will specifically drive ESG data delivery, enabling the transition from a consultancy to a HSBC led model within the Global Head of Insurance Sustainability program. Acting as a key point of contact between the business and IT teams, support the translation of the business requirements to technical documentation to facilitate the accurate delivery of the wider project aims
·  They will also work with the Head of Reporting and Global Insurance Financial Control team to drive high quality output in support of external reporting and disclosures of HSBC’s ESG goals
·  As the project pivots towards visualisation and cloud-driven processes for performance analysis, this role would be suited to an individual with experience or interest in learning and leading analysis - translating core business processes into functional requirements supporting Global Insurance Finance in its ambition to operate market leading business analytics, planning and forecasting functionality in support of the Global Insurance business

Primary responsibilities:

Management Reporting

·  Own and prepare consolidated ESG MI reporting requirements for Insurance, enabling the delivery of insightful automated analysis
·  Lead the enhancement of business metrics to enable both internal and external reporting frameworks for ESG, working closely with the business to understand critical commercial drivers, setting up the processes and controls around reporting and deliver reporting with useful commercial insights
·  Support the automation and implement of sufficient controls (both data and governance) to enable external reporting capabilities
·  Act as a key point of liaison within the Insurance Finance teams for ESG reporting, with the ownership of technical specifications, collation of requirements, and review of IT development activities to ensure delivery meets expectation
·  Work with the technical architects and application designers to understand the data conversion requirements fully and to design the conversion procedures and applications
·  Co-ordinate and ensure the embedding of data and analytics techniques within the key insurance manufacturing markets to support the implementation of the defined target operating model within the agreed timeframes

Transformation and Business Developments

·  Act as a single point of contact and bridge between the business and the wider project team, owning key deliverables with the view of ensuring the overall business goals are suitably and consistently documented and scoped, via the generation of suitable documentation, such as data dictionaries, worked models and illustrations with the view to provide sign off from key subject matter experts and senior program management
·  Conduct through the detailed documentation of a business requirements, completion of a current state study, definition of data lineages, and review of end state reporting requirements generating a suitable proposal for review and approval by senior project management
·  Support project documentation and governance, acting as a future SME during the project transition into BAU
·  Provide recommendations for methods of improving processes, issues resolution, delivering efficiency enhancements business case development as well as support future development works as ESG reporting requirements mature
·  Support project planning, provision of status updates for various governance meetings such as the Sustainable Investment Management Update meetings and Steering Committee, and WPB/ Group forums, and follow-up of actions as needed
·  Analyse new data sources or business requirements, the transition of the ESG “Visualisation, Planning and Forecasting” tools into business-as-usual management information, and drive the developments to management information to provide a clear view of results and result drivers
·  Support UAT test case development, perform centralised UAT activities, and support market colleagues to perform activities

Leadership & Teamwork

·  Act as a key member of the Global Insurance Business Performance team
·  Working in a collaborative way across geographies, ensuring effective team communication and delivery through remote working collaboration, including working with multi-disciplinary teams (such as IT, local Finance, local Investment team, Asset Management, Security Services etc) to ensure quality deliveries on time and within budget
·  Leverage a support team of colleagues located in Hong Kong, United Kingdom, and the Global Finance Operations Centre in India to support analysis and production of deliverables

Requirements

Educational and Interpersonal Skills

·  Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
·  Proficient in both spoken and written English, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
·  Confident in decision making and the ability to explain processes or choices as needed
·  Ability to work collaboratively and manage delivery across multiple teams and locations, Excellent multitasking skills and task management strategies
·  Appetite to learn, investigate, adapt and challenge particularly as ESG and IFRS 17 reporting matures.
·  Interest in developing peers and sharing knowledge through collaborative learning and constructive challenge
·  Ability to influence and effect change through the creation of interpersonal relationships and strategic thought

Experience

·  Strong background in financial services with a solid understanding of Insurance, Asset Management, reporting process and controls and/or ESG reporting experience
·  Experience in insurance and financial data analysis, market trends, risk management, and regulatory compliance is highly desirable. Consultancy experience preferable
·  Strong and demonstratable problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and excellent multitasking abilities, with an appetite to learn, investigate, and adapt, particularly in evolving areas such as ESG and IFRS17 reporting
·  Experience in the preparation and presentation of analysis, ability to present to senior management proactively building relationships with peers and stakeholders
·  Ability to articulate complex concepts in both a highly technical and simplified manner depending on the needs of stakeholder
·  Practical Experience with implementing large-scale enterprise data solutions e.g., data lake/data warehouse/data mesh
·  Understanding of cloud computing and data technologies, including business drivers, emerging trends, and deployment options (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, Alibaba Cloud, Tencent Cloud)
·  Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, Java, Python, C++, Scala, SAS, or Kafka is preferred.
·  Proficiency in dashboarding platforms such as Qliksense, Power Bi, Looker, or Tableau is preferred.
·  Experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies
