Role purpose

Assurance roles are responsible for conducting independent internal compliance reviews across all lines of business (LoBs), consulting with peers in the Second Line of Defence (Risk Stewards) at the global, regional, country and business levels. These reviews assess consistency, efficiency, and effectiveness of those Risk Stewards and their teams in assisting the LoBs and functions to understand, manage, and mitigate compliance and reputational risk. 

The remit may range from a small geographic area/country to global for a Function or Global Business Line.

 

Main activities

Supporting/producing management information/reports for the function 

• Assist with the tracking the completion of reviews by the Global Assurance Team (GAT) and the regional Assurance teams 

• Assisting with analysing Assurance performance and identified areas of RC risk 

• Assisting with control activities, such as reviews of the quality of the completion of Assurance's documentation 

• Helping to develop and maintain Global Assurance's review templates and other tools used by Assurance, including the Global Assurance Plan review and update process 

• Helping facilitate the Assurance ManCo and undertaking secretariat duties 

• Assisting in the annual resource management process and providing support to the cost centre manager for the function 

• Facilitating/co-ordinating ad hoc business management activities as requested by line management 

• Assisting line management in the production of the annual Global Assurance Plan 

• Undertaking ad hoc project and analysis work requested by line management 

• Acting proactively and coming up with ideas for enhancements to the team's activities 

Requirements

·  Compliance risk within a global firm, in the financial services industry.
·  Significant leadership experience and an experienced strategic thinker.
·  Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, with experience of dealing with executives at all levels.
