HBCE Wholesale Credit Risk Management (WCRM) is responsible for managing credit risk for Continental Europe (including branches and subsidiaries) across different segments - from small scale Business Banking relationships through to Large Corporates, Global Banking names as well as Sovereigns and Financial Institutions. The team is working on an integrated basis across two sites, Duesseldorf (Germany) and Paris (France). Within WCRM, the MME team manages the credit risk for mid-market corporate clients. Role will report into the Head of MME HBCE.


What you’re going to do:

•    In charge of a MME client portfolio in relation to Wholesale Credit Risk related matters, with a focus on HBCE customers.
•    Be the key credit WCRM MME contact for certain countries / branches and partcipate in the MME oversight.
•    Review, recommend and approve credit applications in accordance with allocated credit authorities in a manner that enables HBCE to grow safely. Promote prudent lending principles to ensure strong asset quality and to minimise credit losses
•    Incorporate fraud, climate risks as well as reputational risks in the credit assessments
•    Ensure compliance of credit proposals with the credit risk strategy as well as with all relevant policies and procedures of the group
•    Proactively identify and highlight emerging risk issues and sub-standard credit exposures and ensure appropriate action is taken to protect the bank’s interests 
•    Engage stakeholders and internal customers regularly by understanding and sharing vision, best practice, challenges, and potential solutions; and by working collaboratively on transaction pipelines, credit guidelines, portfolio or product reviews, appetite definition and other credit risk related initiatives

Conditions

•    Academic qualifications in financial analysis (Business/Management schools or University education). MBA / CFA / CPA is a plus.
•    Significant experience in credit risk management of Commercial Banking customers or in related fields
•    Ability to operate in a demanding operating environment, working across all levels of the organization and understanding linkages and interdependencies.
•    Fluent English (spoken and written), German and / or French language skills a plus
•    Good understanding of HSBC overall business dynamics and knowledge of the product offering of an international bank and the related credit risks
•    Critical mind with strong analytical skills and a pronounced solutions orientation
•    Excellent communications and strong time management skills
