We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Product Governance Lead.

Background

The Funds & Trustee Services organisation is a global team of circa 600 staff within Securities Services (SSv) responsible for the development and delivery of products within the fund and trustee value stream.

The Product Governance Lead role is a key member of the Global Fund Services product team. The role will primarily focus on driving the development and implementation of the product governance framework, product strategy & roadmap and the pnl review of the Global Fund Services and Trustee business. The job holder must work closely with colleagues across Asia and Europe to ensure that the strategic change initiatives to the Fund Services and Trustee are delivered to meet the evolving needs of the business, to time and on budget. There may also be client engagement required for the role holder time to time.

As with all product roles, the ability of the job-holder to work effectively and in partnership with the global entities in the business is a key success factor.

Accountabilities

Product Strategy and Roadmap

·  Assist with the development of a strategy and associated roadmap for Fund Services and Trustee
·  Ensure product strategy aligns with HSBC’s overall business objectives and SSv’s goals
·  Identify new and enhanced global product opportunities, providing input to market/product strategy initiatives, align product roadmaps with market needs and corporate vision

Product Governance

·  Establish and strengthen product governance policies for Global Fund Services and Trustee, in lockstep with the overall SSv governance framework
·  Manage the value stream construct, including tracking attendance, meeting collateral presentation, meeting minutes and action logs
·  Facilitate and keep record of product changes and new product launch approvals
·  Work with the product managers to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and industry standards. Ensure documentations are well stored for audits and compliance reporting
·  Maintain up to date standard product artifacts including Target Standard Model, Product Catalogues, standard pricings and client sales material
·  Maintain an awareness of market and competitor developments and position and differentiate the Funds offering relative to the competition

Sales and Business Development Support

·  Work closely with the Sales and Business Development team on various client pitches, RFPs, due diligence meetings and other discussions/negotiations
·  Produce and update marketing and sales collateral on an ongoing basis
·  Active involvement in industry award submissions, surveys, pitches and other market-related initiatives
·  Engage with top clients on product proposition / requirements and take feedback as input into product development
·  Provide support for client onboarding, where required, from a product perspective (e.g. operating model design, solutions to bespoke requirements etc.)

Business P&L Management

·  Manage and monitor top line and bottom-line contributors in the product pnl for Global Funds and Trustee, work with the respective product management teams to ensure profitability health check is performed periodically and financial targets are met

Requirements

Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications

·  Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of the securities market and the associated market infrastructure
·  Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the funds industry and in particular Fund Services and Trustee product
·  Strategic mind-set, with strong conceptual, creative and analytical content
·  Energetic, results focused, change agent, with a strong work ethic
·  Strong organisation, multi-tasking and time management skills
·  Personal qualities of stability, maturity and leadership. Team player and people motivator
·  First class interpersonal, collaborative, relationship building and influencing skills
·  Excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, with strong presentation skills
·  Bachelor’s Degree with relevant work experience in the fund services industry

Management of Risk

·  Proactive management of delivery risk; leveraging insight and support from across the business in order to translate and communicate this risk in business terms
·  Responsible for the continual assessment of operational and workforce risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructuring and the impact of new technology
·  Demonstrates compliance with HSBC Bank plc Group standards, manuals and policies and adheres to the defined work practices, internal controls and risk management standards associated with the role

Observation of Internal Controls

·  Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators
·  Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business activities associated with the role, specifically HSBC Bank plc internal controls and compliance policies and manuals
