We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of a Senior Consultant Specialist.
In this role, you will:
· Engineer infrastructure solutions for configuring, delivering, and supporting Linux environments and services.
· Implementation of new technologies and the on-going support of hardware and software solutions across both live and non-live environments.
· Develop automation processes for provisioning, configuring, and managing bare metal servers in a large-scale environment.
· Collaborate with internal teams to design and improve tools that automate and streamline infrastructure deployment and operations.
· Actively participate to achieve organisation objectives for efficiency. Perform pro-active analysis on day-to-day work to obtain automation on deliveries thereby reducing repetitive and standardised tasks/processes.
· Partner with software development teams to engineer and enhance solutions. Advise on solution design, development, and best practice for Infrastructure deliveries, throughout project lifecycles from build through to IT Service Acceptance and implementation processes.
· Develop and maintain standards and procedures for service component capacity management. Ensure the correct implementation of standards and procedures.
· Assess, analyse, develop, document, and implement changes based on requests for change.
· Provide operational support on incident and perform root cause analysis to prevent problems happening. Ensure appropriate measures are taken to improve and sustain high quality and prevent recurrence.
· Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
· Demonstrable experience of Linux administration and architecture, including knowledge of volume managers, multi-pathing and kernel parameter tuning.
· Experience of managing server lifecycle including provisioning, configuring patching, upgrading and demise.
· Hands-on experience designing and building highly available distributed systems.
· Hands-on experience with x86 hardware and virtualisation technologies preferably KVM or similar, IaaS / PaaS private or public solutions.
· Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.
· Familiarity with Cloud and containerization technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, Podman, etc, is a plus
· Knowledge of storage infrastructure with experience of configuring file systems on NAS storage and SAN solutions, both standalone and clustered, including replication.
· Knowledge of network components and services (Load balancers, Routers, Proxies, Firewalls).
· Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IAC) methodologies, particularly using Puppet, Ansible, or Terraform.
· Expertise in utilizing Ansible for configuration management and deployment.
· Experience of observability framework and toolkits such as Open Telemetry, Grafana or similar
· An enthusiastic self-starter and ownership mindset.
· Effective communication skills, capable of building strong relationships with team members, and stakeholders.
· Experience working in a major enterprise environment and or experience operating in highly regulated industry, e.g., Financial Services, preferred.
Preferred Experience:
· Experience on use of source control.
· Scripting/coding experience in one of the following languages: Bash, Python or GO, or willingness to upskill
· Experience in systems/server management working with technologies like Redfish, BMC, and IPMI standards.
· Experience with Agile methodologies, effective working independently.
