Risk and Compliance are global functions that incorporate a range of specialist teams, working together to help HSBC navigate a complex regulatory and risk landscape. The Risk and Compliance function aims to embed a sustainable approach to risk and compliance management that supports safe growth and serves customers fairly. The function aspires to continuously raise the bar and set leading standards across the industry to help HSBC safeguard its customers and the communities in which it operates.
In this role, you will support the Australian Head of Regulatory Compliance in leading an advisory team where you will provide high-quality risk stewardship support to our International Wealth & Personal Banking (IWPB) business and HSBC Australia’s entity wide Product Governance Framework.
This unique position will enable you to broaden your technical knowledge, utilising your familiarity with a range of banking products and expertise in retail banking regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
· Leading and providing strong and effective risk stewardship and advisory support to IWPB Australia, including maintenance of an effective control framework to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, industry codes and standards, good market practices and internal policies.
· Leading and providing strong and effective risk stewardship and advisory support to entity wide new and ongoing product management initiatives in line with Australia’s Product Governance Framework.
· Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with key stakeholders locally in Australia, as well as Group and Regional Regulatory Compliance teams offshore.
· Supporting the Head of Regulatory Compliance Australia to build and maintain a high performing Regulatory Compliance Function.
· Acting in a professional, approachable and supportive manner fostering a cohesive and collegiate team spirit.
Requirements
Requirements:
· Strong knowledge of, and experience in retail banking, wealth and asset management products and services and associated legal and regulatory requirements.
· Strong knowledge and understanding of the external regulatory, political, competitor and market environment.
· Broad and deep product knowledge across banking or extensive cross-functional experience within a large financial institution. Experience within a global institution is an advantage.
· Excellent interpersonal skills and strength of character, with the ability to effectively communicate with, inspire and influence colleagues and stakeholders at all levels both internally and externally.
· Excellent leadership and people management skills with proven ability to motivate a team.
· A practical understanding of technology, demonstrating knowledge of technology development and deployment and how this can be used to meet business needs.
· Knowledge and understanding of the management of Regulatory Compliance issues and risks within a complex organisation.
· Demonstrated experience building and maintain relationships with internal and external senior stakeholders.
· A results focused, self-starter, displaying proactivity, energy and resilience, with excellent attention to detail and quality.
Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian PR/Citizenship or New Zealand Citizenship, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.
