Role Summary/Purpose
The Staff Engineer for Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) / Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Testing performs complex Engineering tests of internally-designed electrical components relative to system requirements. Responsibilities include writing / reviewing procedures, leading test team execution, gathering / analyzing data, writing test reports and making recommendations to the Engineering design teams.
Essential Responsibilities
Work is performed via on-site EMI test facilities and occasionally at off-site locations.
· Execute and provide guidance for the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product / program requirements
· Lead business initiatives in design, materials, manufacturing, quality and/or productivity
· Define and develop product processes related to design, analysis, test, materials, manufacture, quality and/or productivity
· Identify need for technical and program reviews within the organization
· Lead technical reviews and participate as a reviewer
· Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments as appropriate
· Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
· Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical and program requirements, schedules and contract commitments
· Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems
Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
· A minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering role relative to EMI Design, Test, and Analysis
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S):
· Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of the time
Desired Characteristics
· Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college
· Strong technical and analytical ability related to several product lines
· Strong presentation and report writing skills
· Familiarity and experience with EMI/EMC and lightning testing of products to MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464 and/or RTCA/DO-160G requirements
· Demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in a teaming environment across multiple organizations
· LEAN / Six Sigma training
· Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
